O voluntariado é uma forma de viajar, de fazer amigos e de ter oportunidade de fazer outras actividades sem as ter num currículo. É uma óptima experiência profissional, social e intercultural.
Foi assim que aprendi muito do que sei de agricultura, permacultura, ensino e do mundo em geral. Depois a capacidade de adaptação constante não nos deixa prender em detalhes mas foca-nos no fundamental. Não existe um lugar/projecto perfeito mas em todos se aprende muito. E ficamos com memórias para sempre.
Financeiramente requer pouco dinheiro. Para as passagens e pouco mais. Há quem faça temporadas no seu país natal, em tarefas sazonais (como a apanha da fruta por exemplo) ou trabalhe em festivais de verão, juntando dinheiro suficiente para viajar o resto do ano. Também há quem trabalhe poucas horas remotamente, já que nestes projectos as necessidades básicas (alojamento e alimentação) estão tratadas.
Vou tentar partilhar os gastos que terei nesta viagem de modo a desmistificar qualquer coisa.
O tipo de projectos, hoje em dia, é muito variado: quintas de produção orgânica ou não, tomar conta de casas, de crianças, de cães ou outros animais, ensinar inglês em escolas, em famílias, em cafés, fotografia e promoção, gerir páginas web, hosteis, remodelações de casas, de barcos, cozinhar, etc.. As possibilidades são muitas e multiplicadas pelos países e culturas resultam em experiências infinitas.
Continuo a achar que os voluntários são a melhor espécie à face da terra. São informados, humildes, abertos, solidários, e mais que tudo, fazem-no de coração. E é mesmo o melhor de viajar assim. É estar rodeado de gente assim que naturalmente cria grupos muito bons.
Há quem me diga "Quem me dera..." (e os filhos dificultam mas não impossibilitam). Mas também há quem me diga "Mas tu assim não constróis nada.." Estou-me a construir a mim.. e a viver. Aconselho.

Volunteering is a way to travel, to make friends and to have the opportunity to try other activities without having them on a cv. It's an excellent professional, social and intercultural experience.
That's how I learned a lot of what I know about agriculture, permaculture, teaching, and the world in general. Then the ability to adapt constantly doesn't let us stop in details but put our focus on the fundamental. There is no perfect place/project, but we always learn a lot. And we keep memories forever.
Financially it requires little money. For moving from project to project and not much more. There are those who spend seasons in their home country, on seasonal tasks (such as picking fruit for example) or work at summer festivals, making enough money to travel the rest of the year. There are also those who work a few hours remotely, since in these projects the basic needs (housing and food) are arranged.
I will try to share the expenses that I will have on this trip in order to demystify anything.
Today, the type of projects is very varied: organic and non organic farms, home-sitting, baby-sitting, dogs-or-other-animals-sitting, teach English in schools, with families, in cafes, photography and promotion, hostels, manage web sites, rebuilt houses or boats, cooking, etc. The possibilities are many and multiplied by countries and cultures result in infinte experiences.
I still think volunteers is the best species on earth. They are informed, humble, open, in available, and most of all, they do it with their hearts. And it's really the best thing about traveling like that. It's to be surrounded by this people that naturally create very good groups.
There are those who tell me "I wish I could ..." (and the children make it difficult but not impossible). But there are also those who tell me "But this way, you don't raise anything.." I'm raising myself ... and living. I recommend.
