With the morning tasks done and lunch taken, it was time to find a cool place for me and Zezinho. At home the thermometer was already 34º and it was still only 2pm.
As soon as I reach the main road, I see a beginning of fire in the mountains of Meimão. Fuck! On the second day of the first infernal week of August there is already a fire. I stopped the car and called 112. How does a fire starts there in the middle of a pine forest?! At the same time I hear the sirens of a fire engine. The situation had already been reported. Can I help with anything? Fortunately, the weak wind was going that way. I can't go relaxed to have a swim anywhere. On the way to a cafe I passed a GNR car and another one of the forest saplers. Not bad. In the cafe, with a panoramic view of the mountains, I had some difficulties in quieting Zezinho. The owner was the one who had reported the fire, he says, when the height of the smoke was only 2 meters. The cars were coming. The calm of the people in the cafe tranquilezed me, and after drinking a coffee, two helicopters were already in action. The fire was very small but the answer was merciless. I know we have traumatizing memories from last year but I feel completely grateful.
Already in the lake with Zezinho, a car with the sappers and a private jeep with two soldiers who got water in the lake (to the annoyance of Zezinho) passed by. Everyone is alert but I am finally proud of the seriousness with which this problem is being taken. We must have the most experienced people dealing with fires. We are no longer children in this matter.

Apparently the cause of the fire was a damaged high voltage cable that began to discharge to the ground. Something as simple as this can be catastrophic. But of course, it isn't a natural cause.
